Hillary Clinton Speaks in Ohio but Will the Media Actually Listen?

Today, C-Span featured a stump speech that Hillary Clinton gave in Ohio. I love how even though I am not in that state, in that place, I can still hear about her awesome ideas! As far as I have heard she is one of the only candidates that speaks about college loans and students trying to pay for college. Hillary actually knows what a pell grant is and will actively seek to stop the outrageous interest fees charged by private college loan lenders. When I heard this and her earnest feelings on the issue, I literally got goose bumps.

By why is it that the media focuses on Hillary "getting upset" over campaign issues or "rebounding from NewspaperObama's last comments." Why must the media make this election sound like a nasty high school clique fighting. Can't they just tell people what her policy is? Can't we learn more about these candidates than who has money and who doesn't? Three years from now will anyone care about these silly things? I doubt it! How about it reporters . . . give us the news and convey the Candidates policies instead of entertainment-esque trash?!

Writer's Strike & TV Withdrawal

So how about that writers strike? You know the reason why our favorite shows are currently in re-runs and why late night TV has this distinctive feeling of deja vu. Writers of the Daily Show created a special educational video on YouTube explaining their position Not The Daily Show, With Some Writer. You know what, I get it that the writers just want to get paid. I mean seriously, I can relate.

I'm giving them bonus points for altering Shakespeare's Richard III opening line to read, "Winter of our Dissed Content." Now that's just funny-smart at its finest.

Cupcakes2But can't we all just get along? Why not give the writers a tiny percentage off ad sales? Who would that hurt, exactly? If you're like me suffering from withdrawal of your favorite shows (Moonlight, Chuck, Grey's etc.) then at least there is Netflix to rent great DVD's that are worthwhile . But why, oh, why do the talks keep "breaking down." And what does that mean, exactly?

Well, anyway if you really need mindless stimulation there is always: Smartest Yorkie Puppy Ever!
Or you know, TMZ.

Is Poetry a Dying Art?

General small press publishers rarely pull in the big bucks. Poetry small press publishers have it even Poetry harder. Yet for hundreds of years poetry has been a venue for people to express themselves on all life issues: from love to hate from despair to happiness. Some of the greatest works we know of are poems . . . Shakespeare’s sonnets, Edgar Allen Poe's works, as well as a few childhood fairytales.

Yet, when I saw this article on PBS: Seattle Poetry Publisher Finds Method to Adapt to Changing Cultural Times, I was sad because it reflects how this powerful literary device is struggling to stay afloat. Take a few moments to read what a few passionate poetry fans have been doing to help keep this literary field (and new authors) going.

Fall TV Season

It's here! It's here! The fall TV season. Finally! So what's good and what's not? Keep reading to find out! Popcorn Fan favorite Grey's Anatomy introduced Meredith’s sister, Burke is gone, and finally George is seeing the Goddess doctor that is Izzy. I have a feeling that this season will bring on the drama making Thursday nights at 9 pm sizzle.

ABC's Sunday night Desperate Housewives along Brothers and Sisters stepped right back into their quirky drama. So what's with the new neighbors on Wisteria Lane? Way to go Firefly's Nathan Fillion for landing a mysterious role! Hasn't Susan at all questioned who is her baby's daddy?
